JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB PURPOSE:

Lead residential dining team at the University of Wyoming and oversee all aspects of board plan dining. A dynamic leader in this position will be responsible for innovating Washakie Dining Center's six unique dining platforms, stay on top of food trends, and provide quality meals to the residential dining population. This person will need to build a culture that promotes growth of skills and training to better serve our customers and provide career growth for our employees. The qualifying candidate will have the opportunity to participate in planning and opening our new state of the art board facility and residential dining hall.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee area(s) of University food service; develop and plan procedures to maximize operational effectiveness and efficiency; develop strategies to collaborate with campus entities to ensure the University's food service needs are met.
  • Develop menus that support direct and indirect costs of operation; work with administrators to develop continual assessment strategies.
  • Develop marketing and communication plans to ensure customers are well informed of the services provided by the department; oversee the development of menus, brochures, service showcases, etc.
  • Generate ideas/plans and implement strategies for additional revenue-producing entities in support of the departmental mission.
  • Serve as a departmental administrator; advise subordinates on matters of UW policy; participate in planning and budgeting processes for the department; maintain current within the profession and contribute to the professional development of the staff. 
  • Ensure procedures are followed to maintain a safe environment for food-allergic diners. 
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Provide support to RLDS Dining needs in Retail, Catering and Athletic Training Table 
  • Attend and participate in training and other professional development activities.
  • Participate in performance-related goal setting and achievement to meet personal and organizational objectives.
  • Participate in annual financial and business management principles, practices, and goals.
  • Promote public relations with students, guests, and University personnel
This position has been deemed essential as addressed in the University of Wyoming’s Employee Handbook.  Employees in essential positions may be required to work during emergency closures and winter closure based on the nature of their job duties and the reasons for the closure.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:  Bachelor’s degree OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:  5 -8 years’ experience managing a collegiate or corporate food service operation, including primary responsibility for a board program.
Other requirements:?
  • Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) that is compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy.
  • Serv-Safe Certification or ability to obtain certification within 4 months of serving in this position
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experienced with C BORD recipe and ordering system
  • Culinary certification or equivalent accredited training program
