Food Service Director

Creative Dining Services is seeking a dynamic Food Service Director to lead dining operations at Calvin Univeristy. If you're a hospitality leader passionate about team development, service excellence, and operational performance, this is your chance to shine. 

What You’ll Do 

Financial Leadership 

  • Collaborate on budgets and ensure financial targets are met.
  • Review and analyze operating statements to drive profitability.
  • Communicate financial performance clearly and effectively with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with company purchasing and financial policies.

People & Team Development 

  • Lead hiring, training, coaching, and performance management for the team.
  • Partner with HR on key staffing decisions.
  • Create growth plans for unit managers using gap analysis tools.
  • Promote a respectful, inclusive workplace culture that values contributions.

Operational Excellence 

  • Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure outstanding food quality, safety, and service.
  • Conduct quality assurance audits and drive corrective actions when needed.
  • Champion safety, sanitation, and compliance with all health regulations.
  • Use key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and improve performance.

Communication & Client Relations 

  • Lead regular team and associate meetings.
  • Keep clients informed and engaged with structured meeting prep, agendas, and follow-ups.
  • Promote strong internal communication and public relations.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate communication policies and documentation.

 What You Bring 

  • 5+ years of equivalent experience
  • Proven experience managing dining or hospitality operations.
  • Strong budgeting, analysis, and financial planning skills.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and team-building abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and food service systems.
  • Required: ServSafe and Allergen Certifications.
  • Required for licensed accounts: Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) credential.

Work Environment & Physical Demands 

  • Frequent standing, walking, reaching, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
