ATTENTION:

 

The University Center at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks a University Center Business and Dining System Administrator (Application Administrator I, IT090).

 

JOB DETAILS:

 

The University Center (UC) Business and Dining Systems Administrator position recommends, designs, troubleshoots, and maintains applications to support the operations of the following units: 1) University Dining contract, 2) Hawk Card Office (university identification card), at both the main campus and UW-Whitewater Rock County campus, and 3) University Center general computer support.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or 3 years of experience in related field.
  • Knowledge of effective software project management, implementation, integration, project management, and software training.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of effective methods of written and oral communications.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business information systems, computer science, or other information technology-related
    field.
  • Experience in supervising, training and staff development.
  • Experience in establishing an inclusive work environment for a those with various identities and skills.

  • Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training drills. 
  • Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

General Job Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoots hardware and software, and system problems.
  • Coordinates system-wide updates and installs upgrades and patches.
  • Recommends application enhancements or changes that may involve custom design, optional, and third-party
    products.
  • Creates and updates access permissions and maintains user accounts to maintain application security through profile
    management.
  • Monitors and maintains performance metrics for application features and recommends and takes corrective/preventive
    actions.
  • Participates in the design, development, and implementation of test and production objects. Defines user requirements
    and performs configuration, change management, and testing activities.
  • Assists in assessing the scope, objectives, return on investment, risk, and budget for application efforts.
  • Read and understand licensing agreements and their implications in software use.
  • Assist with the definition of requirements and preparation of bid documents for the acquisition of applications,
    application development services or necessary hardware.
  • Determine application and implementation feasibility from technical perspectives and determine if the application fits
    the needs/requirements.
  • Responsible for training on approved applications and hardware.
  • Develop one-time and reusable reports for all applications and processes.
  • Establish and maintain close liaison with vendors and technical representatives.
  • Analyze and document how current software fits the needs of the University Center and University Dining
  • Direct supervision of student employees.

Software & Hardware Management

  • Evaluate, analyze, organize, and document application functions and data requirements.
  • Coordinate updates and/or install software upgrades and patches.
    • Plan and test upgrades to purchased software.
    • Coordinate the installation, repair, and maintenance of all devices that interact with Transact
      Campus Inc.'s applications.
  • Develop business and technology processes to automate execution of software components.
  • Develop and evaluate application alternatives to solve business function needs.
  • Study, develop, recommend, and support application development tools, standards, policies, procedures, and
    methodologies for assessing application problems.
  • Follow and ensure software development life cycle methodologies and practices.
  • Troubleshoots hardware, software, and system problems.
    • Support or provide backup for the following applications:
      • Transact System Enterprise, version 4.x
      • Transact eAccounts.
      • Transact Cloud POS (Point of Sale), including kiosks and mobile ordering.
      • Transact Online Photo Submission
      • Instant ID Software for campus ID card production
  • Develop technical knowledge about the software and data structures delivered with purchased applications.
  • Responsible for customizing out of the box applications, within the licensing structure, to satisfy business needs.
  • Assist University Center units with maintaining credit card security per campus and Universities of Wisconsin
    policies, including, but not limited to, annual self-assessment.
  • Maintain desktop computer inventory and configuration of devices for University Center units.
  • Coordinate non-desktop technology device inventory (i.e. cash registers, kiosks, networked receipt printers,
    meeting room tech controls, etc.) and configuration to maintain Universities of Wisconsin security policies.
  • Sustainability/Sustainable mindset.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

 

Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary within the range of $55,000 - $62,000 commensurate with the candidate's education, related experience, and qualifications.
