About the Job

OSU is looking for an experienced and passionate leader to join our dining senior leadership team.  Someone who is ready to help our students make better food choices by influencing what is served on campus.  Someone able to find and execute creative, efficient solutions for special diet needs and the integration of more sustainability efforts into our operations.


The Company:

University Housing & Dining Services is a self-operated department offering a variety of dining options with 3 dining centers, a market, coffee shops, and a catering department. We house 4600 students and serve the campus community of 34,000 members. We are known for the great care we take of students, employees and guests.


The Position
We are looking for the right person to be the Assistant Director of Dining for Nutrition and Sustainability. This person will lead and manage nutrition and sustainability activities, in conjunction with the senior management team.  The annual pay range we are offering is $85,000-$95,000 plus benefits.

  • Bachelor’s degree in dietetics/nutrition or food service management.
  • Three years of working in a high-level management position requiring strategic planning
  • Three years offering nutritional services or consulting in a large volume food service location or a hospital operation, and two years supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of identifying, handling and working with allergens and limiting allergen cross contact.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform as a leader and setting direction for a multi-faceted operation.

  • Plans, develops, evaluates and implements strategic programs and services that meet the nutritional and cultural needs of Dining Services and the students/customer population we serve.  Provides training, as well as confidential analysis and counseling as the Dining Services’ on-staff Nutritionist.
  • Is responsible for designing, implementing and overseeing the maintenance of the web-based nutritional data for all menu items served, including online menus for each restaurant and the menu labeling program.
  • Strategically plans, develops and manages the sustainability efforts and initiatives for all of Dining Services.  Serves as liaison with campus departments and student groups to assist with on-going vision efforts toward sustainability programs/goals.
  • Provides direct supervision and oversight of General Manager(s) at assigned Dining Center(s), three Nutrition Assistants and Dietetic Interns. 


The Location: Oregon State University in Corvallis, OR; a college town filled with trees between the mountains and the ocean.
