UC Riverside's Dining and Hospitality Services is currently recruiting for the Marketing and Strategic Communications Coordinator. Dining and Hospitality Services supports the global campus community by nourishing and delighting our student guests, faculty and staff with outstanding cuisine, cutting-edge menus and delivering exceptional customer service. The selected candidate will work daily with a team of committed professionals focused on "above the line" accountability and results! We are looking for accomplished professionals interested in continuing our cultivation of the latest trends in collegiate retail and residential services, promoting and shaping sound sustainable business practices. Reporting to the Executive Director of Dining and Hospitality Services, the Marketing and Strategic Communications Coordinator will lead the department with branding, marketing strategies and initiatives, and communication initiatives via social media, web, and print. Manage, coordinate, and executes department requests as they relate to web, print media, digital signage, video and social media; collaborates with Campus Business Services and University Communications. Supports a range of marketing and communication activities including campaign communications, targeted marketing programs, guest engagement satisfaction surveys, event advertising, campus promotional materials, direct marketing campaigns, website organization, content development, and support for video and photography. Coordinates and supports a department-wide integrated marketing program, including branding and identity, market research, and strategic message development. The budgeted hiring range for this position is $64,400.00 - $93,200.00. An assessment and work sample request will be required during the interview process. **As a condition of employment, you will be required to comply with the University of California SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Vaccination Program Policy. Description

Works with management and clients to create, develop, and implement long and short term strategic communications plans and/or projects.

  • Responsible for creating annual marketing plans and strategies for both the department holistically and each restaurant/coffee shop/convenience store/catering operation within the Dining and Hospitality Services portfolio. Marketing initiatives should have a measurable impact on student satisfaction in our residential restaurants and a positive sales impact in our retail environments. Develops, creates, implements, and continually updates the marketing programs for Dining and Hospitality Services to ensure they are current and relevant. Assists in creating the vision and protocols for delivery of information while establishing and managing related budget and costs. Develops and implements a variety of market research techniques and concepts in consultation with departmental and campus partners, and researches best practices and methods to communicate strategic marketing initiatives. Participates in the planning, promotion, and execution of special events to promote Dining and Hospitality Services.

  • Creates, develops, and implements content for publications, advertising for print, media, web, email, social media, and electronic marketing. Participates in product or departmental photography, content development, and graphic design needs to produce required campaigns and marketing projects within given time-frame and defined budget. Works closely with management team to provide technical support and ensures that deliverables, goals, and objectives of each project are met.

Identifies specific communications needs and develops the content and process for organizational improvements.

  • Stays current in industry trends in order to implement new approaches or methods for reaching intended market audience within each business segment. Develops strong partnerships with Dining management to assist with unit specific needs such as Limited Time Offer (LTO) marketing, food signage, promotional marketing, special event marketing, etc. Studies and analyzes guest feedback through surveys and other guest feedback mechanisms to identify gaps in marketing, communication, and/or information. Develops strategy to positively address guest feedback in a long-term marketing/communication plan.

Advises and consults with departmental/college administration regarding all aspects of communications including developing strong communications strategies that effectively deliver the desired message, policy interpretation, and problem resolution.

  • Advises and consults with cross-functional departments to develop constituent-based communications strategies, including those specific to parents, students, faculty, staff, and event/conference attendees. Ensures maximum visibility and understanding of the Dining and Hospitality Services branding and services.

Seeks out magazines, trade journals, and online publications to write and submit timely articles regarding Dining, Hospitality & Retail Services.
