Penn State Berks is a Commonwealth Campus of Penn State University located in Reading, PA. This campus was established in 1958 and serves approximately 2,300 students, 800 of whom are residential.

The Assistant Director operates, managers and administers housing and food service under the supervision of the Director. This position will provide exceptional customer service through products and services; implement policies, procedures, products, and services; participate in the financial success of the operation; oversee safe preparation of products and will provide a safe and secure environment for employees, students, and customers. They will also be responsible for maintaining inventories and facilities. Responsible for overseeing residence hall area, dining facility, coffee shop and a convenience store in addition to working with clients regarding special events, conferences and catering functions. Hire, train, coach, supervise, schedule, evaluate, and discipline assigned employees including management staff, staff assistants, technical service union staff, part time employees and student employees. Complete special projects as assigned. May lead or participate in departmental and University-wide initiatives and committees.

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in hospitality, nutrition, or business-related discipline or plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2.

This position will require the successful completion of standard background checks.
