Campus Enterprises is NC State’s Division for Retail and Hospitality Services—NC State Dining, NC State Bookstores, Lonnie Poole Golf Course, NC State Student Centers (Witherspoon and Talley), and the Wolfpack One Card Services. Each unit shares a common goal: deliver quality and efficient services with dedicated financial support for student activity and scholarships.

NC State Dining provides campus wide food services to students, staff, and faculty on the North Carolina State University Campus. NC State Dining operates 11 cafes, 3 food courts and 4 dining halls, 5 convenience stores, campus concessions, vending, a nutritional counseling service, and a catering department. The department employs approximately 1000 temporary and student employees and approximately 150 permanent EHRA and SHRA employees.


The primary purpose of this position is to oversee and supervise a staff of temporary and student employees in operating a Coffeehouse.

Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Hire, schedule, and train employees to follow all guidelines and procedures set by NC State Dining and NC State University.
  • Provide excellent customer service by ensuring customers are served fast, friendly, and courteously at all times.
  • Assist in preparing breakfast and lunch items.
  • Place and receive food, beverage, and supply orders using Cbord food management system.
  • Maintain food and labor costs to the department standards.
  • Ensure unit is staffed to open and closed according to operating schedule.
  • Ensure food and beverage items are rotated properly
  • Maintain monthly inventories.
  • Set up and close cash registers following department cash handling procedures.
  • Create weekly schedules and flash reports.
  • Assist with setting up break service preparation when needed.

Required Qualifications

Minimum Experience/Education:

High School diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in food preparation or service activities in a commercial kitchen; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferred Years Experience/Education:

  • Three years of high volume food service supervisor experience.
  • Experience using a food management system, or employee scheduling software is a plus.
Department Required Skills:

  • Supervisory experience, and ability to lead and motivate a team of employees.
  • Cash handling skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; and professionally communicate with multiple levels of employees within the University and customers.
  • Requires bending, twisting, pulling and pushing. Because of the nature of a food service operations and working in in a kitchen, you must be able to work in extremely hot and cold conditions.
  • Must be able to lift 60 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Basic skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software
