Organization Details

Dickinson College is a highly selective institution, self-operating its Dining Services - DDS - managing and operating the board program, retail operations, catering services, vending, and student ID/proximity card services. DDS is an integral part of the college community and the student experience, supporting a core value of sustainability in efforts to improve procurement and production practices, energy use, and waste reduction. DDS provides a high quality dining program and sophisticated catering services through a very talented culinary team that serves: grass-fed beef, seasonal fruits and vegetables grown at the College Farm, kosher and vegan menus, complex special diets, artisanal whole-grain breads and delectable desserts made in our own bakery, and high-end catering functions.

Responsible for supervising and executing culinary operations within catering services, under the direction of the Executive Chef. The position also works extensively with the Catering Manager, Trustees, President’s Office, Advancement, and Clarke Forum to provide culinary experiences which meet and exceed customer expectations. As the catering schedule permits, the head catering chef will also assist with culinary duties in non-catering elements of Dining Services

The head catering chef, through personal effort and the balanced use of other culinary employees, accomplishes the organization’s mission by providing menu development, planning, costing, preparation, and delivery of high-quality experiences to special events and catering functions. Ensures food production is completed to meet preparation deadlines, arrives at the proper location at the proper temperature, and with the appropriate garnish and serving utensils. Ensures post-service activities are assigned and completed such as recording leftover food quantities, proper storage or disposal, and planing for future use.

Required Qualifications
