The departments and operations within Campus Enterprises include NC State Dining, NC State Stores, Trademark & Licensing, Talley Student Union, Witherspoon Student Center, Rave!Catering, the One Card Office, Lonnie Poole Golf Course, Park Alumni Center, and Vending operations. Responsibilities

The primary purpose of the Floating Supervisor will be to supervise daily operations in an NC State Dining food service unit when the permanent supervisor is not available to operate the unit. This floating supervisor will provide supervision during service hours to ensure NC State Dining standards of excellent customer service and food quality are being met, while maintaining all safety and sanitation policies and procedures during the shift. This floating supervisor is responsible for the coordination, training, and discipline of staff, students, and temporary labor.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing front of house operations and supervising staff to ensure guest service and food quality is at an exceptional level.
  • Coordinating the flow of food from final production to line service as planned by C-Bord production system.
  • Reviewing daily menu and production sheets and final amounts prepared for accuracy.
  • Communicating directly with back of house personnel about food status/ levels during the mealtime to ensure no lag time between replacements of food on the serving line.
  • Scheduling staff and making staff assignments daily.
  • Performing food production administrative work including purchasing and inventory controls.
  • Ensuring that all State and Departmental Health Standards are being followed. Reporting concerns directly to the unit manager.
  • Ordering food and non-food products using the C-Bord food ordering system
  • Monitoring all areas of the dining unit to ensure customer needs are being met and that employees are responsive to customer’s request and expectations.
  • Monitoring work of staff and assessing when improvements/training is needed.
  • Other duties as assigned to ensure NC State Dining business needs are met. Position may be asked to assist in other locations as necessary.

Required Qualifications

Minimum Experience Required:

High School diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in food preparation or service activities in a commercial kitchen; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training, Education:

Three years of high volume food service supervisor experience.

Basic cash handling skills.

Department Required Skills:

Ability to lead and motivate a team of employees.

Excellent customer service skills.

Strong communication skills.

Basic skills and familiarity with MS Windows or similar product and the ability to learn new software.

Ability to maintain Grade A sanitation rating of 95% or better

Must be able to lift 30 pounds frequently and 60 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Must be able to bend, twist, pull, and push objects with or without reasonable accommodations

Must be able to work in a kitchen under extremely hot and cold conditions with or without reasonable accommodations.
