Responsibilities

UC Riverside's Housing, Dining, and Hospitality Services is currently recruiting for a new Dining Systems Analyst. As a member of the Dining Services Systems Office, this position will be responsible for the maintenance and operations of the systems utilized by Dining Services, which includes Point of Sale (POS), menu management, Blackboard Transact and Reporting, Dining's temperature monitoring system, and TouchWork modules. The Dining Systems Analyst will create and conduct training for POS and menu management database functionality and use, will maintain the accuracy of the POS and menu management database, and will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy of menus and inventory, researching menus with Dining Nutrition Educator and Dining Executive Chef, and organizing Dining systems and applications. The Dining Systems Analyst will assist in the support of the daily and monthly process of reviewing financial reports and assists in maintaining the database accuracy of invoice entry, menus, recipes, inventory and pricing. The Dining Systems Analyst will also interact with the campus ITS department on system maintenance. *** Please note the budgeted hiring range for this position is $55,000 - $81,800. ***

Applies professional data management concepts and defined data/information management policies and procedures in completing assignments.

  • Support the POS system and menu management database for UCR Dining Services, including inputting new menu items, adjusting page layouts, creating menus, and maintain the accuracy of the databases. Create training material and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure proper training for all staff that utilize the systems.

Researches, gathers and analyzes information requirements from data providers and users and documents them using formal data definition techniques and naming standards.

  • Ensure POS and menu management database tasks are performed accurately and efficiently. Work with management and team to create efficiency with page layout, Kitchen Display System (KDS), and other POS peripherals and devices. Ensure regular and on-going communication with managers throughout Dining regarding use of systems, updates, functionality, and trouble shooting. Work with Executive Chef, Culinary management team, and operational staff to ensure the menu management modules are efficiently used.

Financial reporting and analysis tasks may include, but are not limited to the following: Prepare requested reports for Dining Management on an on-going basis. These may include reports related to customer counts, financial expenditures, eating patterns and trends, and other reports as requested by management. Prepare a monthly key results indicators report for senior management, research any issues of concern and submit a final and accurate report for management review. Oversee menu item input and perform a detailed analysis for all menu item costs and retail prices. On a weekly basis, analyze menu item costs and prices and determine appropriate course of action if change is indicated. Assist with the preparation of recommendations for Directors and Senior Management on trends in the operating units regarding purchasing, production and database use and accuracy. Complete special projects or any other duties assigned by Senior Leadership.

Designs and implements capture of metadata from technical processes such as software design and database management. Assists with implementation of business processes.

  • Assist in supporting other Dining systems and application, including the maintenance and utilization of the system and assist in evaluating the feasibility of new features of all dining systems for our operations and implement if deemed appropriate.

Responsible for assisting with supervising student staff in the Dining Systems Office in such a manner as to strictly adhere to sound fiscal, ethical and accounting standards. Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and hiring team members in accordance with campus guidelines and procedures. Provide leadership, direction, motivation, and counsel to ensure tasks are performed accurately and according to University and department guidelines. Ensure staff is trained on office procedures and daily tasks. Assist in coordinating training opportunities throughout the year to promote professional development. Ensure on-going personal professional development, attend suggested and required training.
