We’re looking for a talented, Assistant Manager with an upscale catering background whom shares our values and passion for the hospitality industry to lead our catering team and supervise the President's Dining Room events at Boston College.

Responsibilities

Basic Function and Responsibility

Manage, organize, and participate in the daily dining service activities within Catering as well as President’s Dining Room: must demonstrate pro-active hands on personnel management, high levels of customer service, leadership, sanitation, safety, and food quality standards. Exhibit a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. Execute opening/closing of unit as well as assistance with payroll, food and supply ordering, cash reconciliation, and on-the-job training to colleagues and staff. In addition, must maintain a high level of service for large high-end events (donor events, Board of Trustees, and President’s Dining Room) to achieve 5 star standards on a consistent basis. Serve as the major domo for these high profile events.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel Management. Three to five years’ food and beverage experience with strong emphasis on front-of-the-house service knowledge.

Skills: Strong supervisory skills with the ability to train and motivate staff. Must be able to manage and work effectively in a high profile environment. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with clients, staff and guests.

Demonstrate outstanding human relation skills and team building skills. Ability to work flexible and ever-changing schedule, including nights and weekends. Must be highly organized and able to work well under pressure. Experience and demonstrated aptitude with computer software application (i.e. Word, Excel and other management systems). Demonstrate and display of professional image via personal decorum and dress. Must have good driving record. Must possess a valid Massachusetts driver's license and be capable of driving up to a 25-foot fixed axle truck. Must be able to lift moderately heavy objects, up to 50 pounds, on an on-going basis.
