Pace University, through its third-party contractor, operates dining services at multiple campus locations in Manhattan and Westchester County, NY. Annual retail and catering sales total approximately $16 million.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Auxiliary Services, the Compliance Manager for Dining Operations monitors the dining services contract and catering operation. The primary responsibility of this position is to monitor health code compliance by conducting regular inspections of all campus dining facilities to ensure that the university’s and the contractor remains in compliance with Westchester, New York City and New York State health and sanitation codes. The Compliance Manager reviews cleaning and sanitation plans and monitors adherence to these plans. S/he is responsible for ensuring potential violations are immediately rectified. The Compliance Manager also monitors the contractor’s compliance with the terms, conditions, and expectations of the University’s dining services contract.

Under the Executive Director’s general direction, the compliance manager will have the responsibility for executing the strategic vision, direction, and promotion of Pace University’s dining services on all campuses. The Compliance Manager will work closely with the Executive Director of Auxiliary Services and the Director of Administrative Operations/Budgets to ensure effective management of dining services financials, including oversight of monthly expenditures, budget development, monitoring of associated contracts and financial planning and reporting associated with dining.

The Compliance Manager represents Dining Services on the University’s sustainability committee and works closely with dining services stakeholders, particularly the student dining advisory boards and also sits on the Board of directors for the Center for Student Enterprise.

The Compliance Manager regularly reviews local competitive pricing and establishes appropriate pricing for comparable products and appraisal of contractors’ proposed pricing. S/he meets with the contract providers regularly to review operations, discuss and resolve problems, plan improvements and approve hours of operation.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, institutional management, health management or hospitality services required; advanced degree or certification in Health Sciences preferred.

  • Three to five years of food services management experience, preferably in a university setting or food health management field; NYS Board of Health background preferred.

  • Proficiency in MS office and excel applications.

  • Demonstrated financial management experience.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated experience with oral presentations.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Ability to interact effectively with a diverse population.

  • Flexibility in working hours.

  • Proven ability, flexibility, and creativity in a fast paced, ever changing environment.

  • Appreciation for and understanding of the uniqueness of the urban university experience. 

  • Ability to travel between Pace’s campuses on a regular basis.

Work Hours

  • Monday-Friday, 9AM to 5PM; additional hours as required.
