Boston College Dining Services is a self operated department of Boston College catering to all the hospitality needs of this two campus university. BC Dining serves over 24,000 meals a day during the academic year across 12 restaurant operations, catering and concessions. The department is comprised of 51 managers, 200 full time employees, and another 500 part time and temporary employees.
Basic Function and Responsibility
Manage, organize, and participate in the daily dining service activities. Must demonstrate pro-active hands on personnel management, customer service, leadership, maintain unit cleanliness, sanitation, safety and appearance, and ensure food quality standards. Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. Execute opening/closing of unit and assistance with payroll, food and supply ordering, cash reconciliation, and on-the-job training to colleagues and staff.
Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred, Associate’s Degree required or equivalent combination of experience. Computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel are required.
Experience: Minimum three- to five-years food service operation, with at least two years in a food service management capacity. Demonstrated knowledge of quality food service standards, procedures and practices.
Skills: Ability to manage, motivate, and work effectively with diverse students, faculty, and staff in high volume and fast-paced environment. Must have outstanding communication, human relations, and interpersonal skills and be able to coordinate and gain the cooperation of a large and diverse staff. Bilingual English/Spanish skills helpful. Must understand quantity food production and operation of equipment. Ability to understand and apply conceptual thinking and processes. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends throughout the year. Self motivated, highly energetic, organized, and results-oriented professional with high-quality standards.
