Over the past year I have had the pleasure and honor of serving as the interim president for the Mid-Atlantic Region of NACUFS. This experience was so enriching that I threw my hat into the ring to run for a full term. I am extremely proud and excited to announce that I was elected and will be representing our region as president for a full two -year term.
Having the chance to work with so many talented people both on the regional and national level has helped me to see my professional life in a completely different light. The multitudes of skilled people associated with NACUFS have an infections way of affecting those who are willing to avail themselves of the opportunity to network and become a part of this wonderful organization.
This year I had the privilege of attending my first Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference as the region’s president at Penn State University. It was a wonderful conference and I want to give my compliments to the Penn State Conference co-chairs Amy Bressler and Karen Kreger along with the countless numbers of volunteers from Penn State who worked so hard to make our conference a tremendous success. Each event was coordinated up to the last detail, leaving nothing to be desired. The final night’s dinner was beyond extraordinary. GREAT JOB Penn State!
I would also like to acknowledge our chefs for taking time from their already hectic schedules at their schools to work on some truly fantastic culinary creations. The Mid-Atlantic Culinary Challenge winner this year was Manfred Edler, CEC, of Villanova University. I know he will represent the Mid-Atlantic Region in the true spirit of culinary excellence.
I am very thrilled to invite everyone to the Mid-Atlantic Region Conference to be held next year at Millersville University--my school. We are planning a lot of fun activities, educational opportunities, networking, and great food. Please try to make plans to attend. We would love to have you there.
In closing I would like to say I know how important NACUFS is to our industry and how important you are to NACUFS. Please take advantage of this opportunity to get involved; it is truly a win /win situation.
