  NACUFS Surveys

As a benefit to its members, NACUFS offers three different but equally valuable surveys spanning a wide array of topics.  Most surveys are free to participate in, occur annually or semi-annually, and results can be cross-referenced with different schools.  (Note:  Currently, results are only available to participating schools.)

  Operating Performance Benchmarking Survey (Annual)
Aggregated performance measurements of college food service departments including revenues per meal, meals per labor hour, labor cost per meal served, food and beverage costs per meal served, food and beverage costs as a percentage of board and/or cash operation revenues, and much more.  Information on the Operating Performance Benchmarking Survey (OPBS) is mailed out to members yearly in January.  Available to participating member institutions only.

Customer Satisfaction Benchmarking Survey (Annual)
Allows member institutions to compare their campus' satisfaction scores for food quality, menu variety, customer service, and cleanliness with aggregated scores from all participating institutions in the sample. The survey measures customer satisfaction at residential dining halls (board plans) and retail units that are classified into six categories: food courts, marketplaces, express units, specialty coffee shops/juice bars, sit-down restaurants, and convenience stores.
  Salary Survey (Biennial)
Compensation and employee benefit data for foodservice management and hourly positions at member institutions.  Results are confidential; available to participating member institutions only.  Survey is implemented every-other year.  Information on the Salary Survey is mailed out every-other year in March.
