Three Food Systems Program

News from the Education Committee
The Mid Atlantic Education Committee is looking for host schools for their Brainstormers and Open House Tour Series.

Brainstormers
These are one day workshops hosted by one of our member schools. The focus is on a particular topic and includes round table discussions to allow attendees to pick up new ideas from the host school as well as the other attendees. Tours of the food services operations will be optional. Examples of topics include Athletic Training Tables, Security Systems, Ethnic Cuisine in a Board Plan Operation, Catering, Fad Diets, Creative Marketing Concepts and Samples, Menu Development, Menu Trends, Retail Product Mix, Organic and Natural product lines. The Education Committee takes care of the registration, marketing and on-line information. The Host School sets the agenda, collects the registration fees and keeps the group on time with the agenda. The fee is kept at $20.00 per attendee. This is intended to be a no-frills, educational experience, where participants can take back knowledge, not gift bags, name badges, etc.

THe Open House Tour Series
These are tours of the Mid-Atlantic Food Services Operations. The tours are hosted by schools and can be 4-8 hours in length. Tours include: Resident Dining Halls, Convenience Stores, Retail Operations, Concessions, etc. Tour guides answer your questions and meals are provided. Cost of attendance is $20.00 per person. Again, please keep it simple, no nametags and no frills.

Anyone wishing additional information or would like to host a Brainstormer or an Open House Tour Series, please contact Don Kendall at DKendall@wlu.edu or at 540-458-8282.
