The 2010 Pre-Conference Workshops will offer opportunities to "plug in" to hot trends and find solutions to common challenges!
Additional information about the Pre-Convention Workshops will be added as it becomes available. Early planning indicates the potential of these two pre-convention events:
1) Neighborhood Market C-Store/Retail Workshop. Returning for another year, this popular pre-convention workshop will provide current information regarding retail merchandising trends in the collegiate setting. Although still in the planning stages, this event is tentatively planned to run from 12:00 noon - 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 6 (including an evening reception), and continuing from 8:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 7. Speakers for the 2010 event to be added as information becomes available.. Also featured in this workshop: the C-Store Best in the Business Awards! Returning for the seventh year, awards are expected to be made in these four categories:
- Marketing/Merchandising
- Foodservice Application
- Updating Your C-Store
- The Big Idea – Unique Solution or Implementation
The awards presentation includes a video featuring each of the winning C-stores and is followed by a panel discussion featuring the winner of each category. Learn from the best!

2) New in 2010 - and appropriate for the location, Sustainability "Road Trip" Workshop. Still in the planning stages, this event is expected to include an offsite road trip from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 6 including visits to local colleges and farm-to-fork programs that are at the forefront of sustainability in the San Jose, CA area. Participants will return to the hotel for an evening reception (with the C-Store/Retail Workshop participants and sponsors), and will continue at the hotel on Wednesday, July 7 from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon, with related speakers on the topic of sustainability. Watch for more information as it becomes available.
