Member Profile: Melissa "Missy" Schrader
Melissa “Missy” Schrader, MS, RD, LD, attributes her career success and “ideal” job opportunities to following her passion for food, science, and management. Colleagues and peers say she’s bright, organized, focused, talented, and enthusiastic.
The combination creates an ambitious professional whose many accomplishments belie her seven-year career at Kansas State University (K-State).
As an instructor for the Department of Hospitality Management and Dietetics, Schrader teaches quantity food production management to campus and distance-based students. She manages the Department of Housing and Dining Services Web site and nutrition links, a four-year-old project that has generated notable student satisfaction. She serves on the Nutrition Awareness Committee. She is obtaining Commercial Interiors Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for a new retail dining operation. She is also wearing a new hat as purchasing agent to procure food for summer dining programs.
