University of Georgia Renovates
Another Foodservice Operation

Since 2000, University of Georgia Food Service has completed major renovations of its three existing dining commons, and in addition has built a new, 54,000 sq. ft. dining commons. Completion of the renovations and additional foodservice facilities has allowed the department to expand it menu selections and services.

Since renovations have been completed, the department has experienced a growth of 43% in meal plans sales. Since 2000, the department has increased annual meal plan sales from 5,620 to 8,061—an increase of 2,441 students. These renovations feature new meal plan concepts that include a smoothie bar, Breakfast in a Flash, Mongolian Grill, "Joe at the O" coffee shop, and sushi. All of the concepts are included in the department's unlimited food access meal plan program.

The newest renovation is Oglethorpe Dining Commons, which features food options such as O-Casa Wraps, Oodles & More, Hole in the Wall Grill, Stacks Deli, Chicken Country Unlimited, the Oriental Trading Market (which features the Mongolian grill and sushi), Scoops & Slices, and Joe at the O coffee shop. To compliment the Sunday Brunches that Food Services currently offer, they recently had their 1891 Steinway Grand Piano reconditioned to provide live music for our customers.
