KU Dining Services Donates Monies
for Tornado Disaster Relief

KU Dining Services recently announced it would donate a portion of its proceeds from retail sales and catered All University Supper to Olathe-based charity Heart to Heart International for their relief efforts in Greensburg, Kansas.
Through KU Dining Services’ fundraising drive “Dine to Donate,” 15 percent of next week’s (May 14-18) Brellas Sandwich Crafters and Summit Subs total retail sales will go directly to Heart to Heart International, a leading global humanitarian organization. In addition to those monies, a portion of the proceeds from the department’s catered All University Supper will also be sent to assist those in Greensburg.
“After witnessing the utter devastation in Greensburg, we as a department felt the need to lend a helping hand,” said Nona Golledge, Director, KU Dining Services. “This is the least we could do.”
According to a release issued by the charity, Heart to Heart has sent medical teams and their “Mobile Medical Unit” to provide acute care in Greensburg and surrounding areas. As the local hospital has been severely damaged, those residents with significant injuries are being transported to surrounding communities. Heart to Heart’s Mobile Medical Unit is positioned to provide assistance with minor injuries and the care of emergency workers.
Brellas Sandwich Crafters concepts are located in The Market (Kansas Union, 3rd Floor), The Underground (Wescoe Hall), The Studio (Hashinger Hall) and Crimson Café (Burge Union). Summit Subs is located in the O’Zone, a retail operation adjacent to Oliver Dining Center (Oliver Hall).
“We believe this is an easy and effective way for the Lawrence and campus communities to rally around their fellow Kansans,” Golledge said.
