As Residential Dining & Catering at Oregon State University continues to elevate the on-campus dining experience, we seek an experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team.  “Our vision” is centered on a food first philosophy, focusing on a creative global and classic cuisine using fresh, high quality, and local ingredients.  All while working in an environment that provides and fosters opportunity, new challenges, long term career path, and a culture of embracing talent of all culinary backgrounds.  We strive to exceed a sensational culinary experience for our university campus and therefore seek a strong, passionate, and professional Sous Chef to help lead our team of talented culinary professionals. 

Minimum qualifications include:  Associates degree, vocational or technical degree in Culinary Arts; or completion of a certified culinary apprenticeship; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience may be substituted. At least 5 years of progressive chef experience with a minimum of 3 years’ full-time work experience as a Sous Chef or Lead with supervisory experience in a large commercial restaurant, hotel, catering, or institution. Demonstrated knowledge in a variety of culinary skills, techniques, and styles. E.g. experience in exhibition cooking, experience in various global cuisines. Must have strong knowledge of the flow of food through the preparation process, presentation, and service. Demonstrated ability to teach others. Demonstrated ability to relate well to individuals and groups with widely varying backgrounds, perspectives, education, and skills. Demonstrated commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.

Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Annual salary range of $40,000 - $48,000 and includes a comprehensive benefits package (health care, vacation & sick leave).
